Fairlawns Hotel & Spa Wedding

Fairlawns Hotel & Spa Wedding Photography - Nick & Gemma

I was introduced to Nick & Gemma through a mutual friend who had recommended my services to them as a wedding photographer. A lovely young couple who work together running and teaching a theatre school in Sutton Coldfield, they were looking for natural, unposed photos and really didn’t want any of the usual group shots.

It was a lovely sunny August morning and my wedding day duties began, as it usually does, capturing the fun and excitement of the bridal prep. Gemma and her bridesmaids were getting ready at her home in Coalville and when I arrived I was greeted by a lovely relaxed vibe and the Prosecco was in full flow.

Once the finishing touches to the hair and makeup had been completed and Gemma was in her stunning dress the limo arrived to take the bridal party to the Fairlawns Hotel & Spa in Walsall, West Midlands. A gorgeous venue set in 12 acres of landscaped grounds and the setting for Nick & Gemma’s wedding.

I gave myself plenty of time to arrive early so I could make sure I was familiar with the venue and the room I would be shooting the ceremony in and also so I could start capturing the images of the groomsmen and the wedding guests. The ceremony was a lovely simple affair with the bride and groom exchanging their own personal vows. Music during the ceremony was provided by two phenomenal singers from the couples theatre school who sang beautifully.

Afterwards the wedding party retired to the grounds outside to enjoy the champagne and canapes as well as a spot of crazy golf in the gorgeous sun. After plenty of hugs and handshakes the couple greeted all their friends and family as the guests took their seats for the sit down meal. The room for the meal was wonderfully dressed with handcrafted decorations in the theme of film and theatre, very fitting for the theatrical couple.

Once the meal was finished and the speeches had been delivered it was time to get ready for the evening celebrations. Entertainment for the evening was provided by the very talented magician Jack Dent aka J D Magic. Jack performed some very impressive tricks and as he stunned the guests on the veranda outside Nick and Gemma danced the night away.

Below you will find some of my favourite images from the wedding.
